Puppy Digestion

We recommend that you continue feeding your puppy dry Diamond puppy food, the same food that he/she has been eating with us. We provide a bag of this with your puppy, whether we meet you or we ship your puppy. If you decide to start feeding your puppy a different type of food, please do so gradually over the course of 7-10 days. To do this, you will gradually mix the new puppy food of your choice in with Diamond puppy food until all that is being fed is the new puppy food. We do not recommend that you simply switch your puppy to a new food because doing so will upset your puppy's stomach.

In the first few days after your puppy arrives to your home, he or she may have some disruption in digestion as he or she adjusts to a new environment. It's important to provide access to fresh water and food at all times for your puppy. This will encourage him or her to eat and drink in a normal pattern. Puppies under six months of age should eat 3 times a day, while puppies 6-12 months of age should be fed twice a day, and adult dogs over 12 months of age should be fed once a day. While your puppy is young, make it a habit for him or her to have some quiet time after he or she eats and drinks including time outside to go potty. Setting up a routine is key in your puppy's adjustment and integration into your family.

Some foods should never be fed to your pet including:
Alcohol     Apple Cores     Avocado     Bones     Caffeine
Cheese     Chocolate     Dough     Fat     Garlic     Grapes
Ham     Liver     Milk     Moldy foods     Mushrooms
Onions     Potato Peels     Raisins      Tuna

*Puppy treats should be chosen carefully by selecting ones that list protein or carbohydrates as the first ingredient.  Limit treats to 10% of your pet's diet!!!

If you purchase your puppy after he/she is 12 weeks of age and he/she was flown to you, your puppy will also recieve a Rabies vaccination. We will provide you with your puppy's rabies tag and certificate. The rabies certificate will be provided to the airline when I ship your puppy.
