We offer a few options in regards to how you receive your puppy. You may choose to have your puppy flown to you when he or she is 8 weeks of age or we can set up a meeting place that convenient for you and us as well to pick up your puppy! Note: We only ship our puppies within the U.S. Shipping internationally is much too stressful, flights are excessively long, and quarantine restrictions are a common occurrence that we feel would be too much our little fluffies.
The traditional search for just the right puppy has people visiting numerous breeders seeing, touching and holding numerous puppies before settling on the perfect puppy. This tradition is helping to spread a variety of communicable diseases including parvovirus, a very serious life threatening disease! Parvo can be carried on clothes, shoes and spread from puppy to puppy by holding, touching, and petting. Anyone who has ever visited a pet shop or pet supplies store has probably picked it up already and can easily spread parvo without even knowing it! Our puppies are limited to contact with us and are not available for local viewing by the public for this reason as well as safety reasons. Buying online is smarter and safer for all involved!
We will ship our puppies if the weather permits to select airports within the United States. Again, we do not ship our puppies outside of the U.S. As the buyer of the puppy, you are responsible for paying for all shipping fees to have your puppy flown to you one week before he or she is to be shipped. This allows me adequate time to book your puppy's flight and to prepare your puppy for his or her arrival!
When we ship your puppy, he or she will be sent in a small airline approved shipping crate. In the crate there will be shredded paper, a puppy toy, blanket, and water and food for your puppy! Your puppy's acclamation letter, health certificate, and rabies certificate, (if your puppy is 12 weeks +) will be provided to the airline for the shipping of your puppy on the date he or she is flown to you.
The cost for shipping a puppy is $325.00. This price covers the expense of airfare, travel crate, vet exam, and health certificate. We also microchip all of our puppies with HomeAgain microchips before they are shipped. Shipping may be paid through any one of our approved payment methods as long as it is received one week before your puppy is ready to fly to you. I recommend that you prepay for your puppy completely; including shipping fees so that I can proceed with booking your puppy's flight reservations in advance. This allows me adequate time to make shipping arrangements for your puppy. However, along with your puppy's purchase price, your puppy's shipping fees MUST be paid for at least one week before he or she is to be shipped to you! NOTE: We ship twice a month. This means that our puppies are able to be shipped every other Saturday. We will let you know when you purchase your puppy the next date we will be available to ship.
We will consider holding a puppy for longer than expected however a mutually agreed upon deadline for pick-up/shipment will be made at that time and agreed upon by both parties. No extensions or exceptions will be made after the original agreement has been made. The reason for this is that it is imperative that puppies begin the bonding process with their new families as soon as possible. NOTE: If for some reason an unforeseen circumstance prevents your puppy from being flown on the mutually agreed upon shipping date, I will reschedule puppy's shipping arrangements for a convenient date/time for us. It will be the buyer's responsibility to rearrange his/her schedule to pick their new puppy up from the airport at that time.
Our top priority is that our puppies arrive to their new homes safely! Therefore, we only use major airlines to ship our puppies! We have checked these airlines out extensively and feel comfortable placing our puppy in their care to arrive to you. Our puppies are shipped exclusively through American Airlines if at all possible. If all flights are booked with American Airlines or none are available at the time, we may use another airline to ship your puppy. If your puppy is to be flown to you, I will email you his/her flight details as well as your puppy's airway bill number so that you can track him or her at any time during the flight! Please print out the flight arrangements I send you and take them with you to the airport to pick up your puppy. It has all of the information you need to successfully pick your new puppy from the airport. We are responsible for putting your puppy on his or her flight. If a problem occurs and your puppy is not able to be shipped for any reason, I will contact you with details as soon as I know that there will be a delay to make accommodations. It is your responsibility to pick your puppy up at the airport at the correct time. Please arrive at least 30 minutes early in case your puppy's flight should come in before it's scheduled arrival time. This will prevent your puppy from waiting for you to arrive after his or her flight.
When going to the airport to pick up your puppy, we recommend that you take along a few items that will come in handy. The first things you will need are cool, clean, water for your puppy and a small dish to serve it in. You may also want to bring along a collar and a leash for your new puppy! Don't forget to bring along some doggie treats! Havanese are susceptible to car sickness during pupphood while English Bulldogs ride fairly well. If you live within short driving distance of the airport, delay feeding and watering your new puppy until you arrive home. Paper towels or baby wipes and some little baggies will come in handy for your airport trip too in case your puppy has an accident.
All of our puppies are shipped from Tulsa, Oklahoma unless special arrangements have to be made because of the temperature. Your puppy's important papers including AKC paperwork, health record, and all other paperwork, will be attached to your puppy's crate. Note: As of 9/19/2008 ALL of your puppy's AKC paperwork, vaccination record, and all other paperwork will be attached to your puppy's travel crate. It is your responsibility to pick this paperwork up! When you pick up your puppy from the airport make sure that the envelope containing that information is on the top of the travel crate.
***A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING DURING THE SUMMER: JUNE-SEPTEMBER***
We can ship our puppies during these months; however we have to work collaboratively with new puppy owners because of airline regulations which require puppies to be flown between certain temperatures. These regulations are in place for the safety of pets when they fly. They ensure that puppies arrive to their new homes safely. We are able to obtain flights as normal but there may be instances where we have to wait until there is a change in the weather for a puppy to fly. Perspective new puppy owners MUST understand that there may be delays in the shipment of their puppy if the temperature exceeds that allowed by airline regulations. However, we always ship our puppies to their new families as soon as possible to faciliate the bonding process. Our puppies safe arrival to their new homes is our primary concern.
In the first few weeks after you get your new addition home, remember that your puppy is going through a transition period and is very likely to be stressed out and scared. It is best to start your new Havanese on a regular routine, which includes playtime, crate time, and potty time outside. The best thing you can do for your new addition is to create a familiar patter that he/she can grow to expect that familiarity! Be patient with him or her. Do not expect your puppy to adjust right way! He or she will adjust in time with your love and patience! If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
*We like to know that our puppies arrive at their new homes safely! We ask that if you choose to have your new puppy flown to you that you call or email us to let us know that he or she arrived safely after he or she is comfortably settled in.
